Mr. Relocation Decision Maker
Research Triangle Park Company
PO Box 12345
Research Triangle Park, NC 27909
Dear Mr. Decision Maker:
We're hoping to reach you by phone soon. George Wehmann and
I are getting coaching help from key people who have been
decision-makers in company relocations and expansions. We
hope you can help too.
As Director of Economic Development, I certainly believe the
Town of Garner has much to offer companies considering a relocation
or expansion. I believe this especially in terms of interstate
access, prime sites, incentives and amenities. But recently,
after discussions with Gary Shope, Vice President of Research
Triangle Foundation and George Wehmann, President of Direct
Marketing Resources Group, I realize the best way to improve
industrial recruiting is to get input from executives who
have "been there, done that" in this region.
And that's where you come in. You may be one of the people
at your company, or in your career (or, you may know someone
to refer us to) who was a decision-maker involved in a major
relocation or expansion. We were hoping to get some coaching
to learn, and better understand, what was really important...
what went well, what went wrong... what could have gone better,
if done over, etc.
We're especially interested in how helpful and informative
municipalities and other "players" were throughout
the site selection process. Did they work to learn your objectives
and focus their resources toward helping you succeed? Were
they cooperative enough? Was community spirit a contributing
factor? What information gave you the impression their site
/ community would be good for your company over the long term?
Was permit review time a factor? Taxes? Wage rates? Utility
rates? What among all, were the most significant factors in
the final decisions?
This kind of input would be very helpful to us.
Thankfully
yours,
Rex
