This
winter's ice and snow may have already done damage to
your home. Here's how you can put a stop to it once
and for all.

Dear Homeowner:
You may not he able to see it. Not yet...but your
gutters are slowly ruining your house.
Last winter, when we had all that snow, ice dams formed
in your gutters, forcing water up under your shingles.
Maybe it didn't happen this year, but one of these winters
that water is going to find its way into your home. Some
night--out of the blue--you'll hear a "drip, drip,
drip" and you'll wonder how on earth water could be
leaking into your house when it's freezing cold outside!
And you probably won't be able to stop it. You'll just have
to wait until the ice melts, and by then, it will be too
late.
There will be water stains on your ceiling, water stains
on your curtains, water stains on your walls, maybe even
water stains on your floor.
And that's just a fraction of the potential damage conventional
gutters can do to your home over time.
Much bigger and more expensive is the damage gutters can
cause the rest of the year, beginning with Spring. Because
even if you diligently clean and cover them with protective
screening, gutters have an uncanny ability to attract leaves
and debris. Like ants, somehow the rascals get in.
And when they do, all this can clog your gutters -- and
your downspouts -- in no time at all. Then you're really
in trouble.
Because just as it does in winter, the water backs up and
overflows. And over time,
dry rot sets in, eating away at your fascia board and everything
else behind it.
